What is a resident?
Residents are doctors. They have graduated from medical school and are completing 3 years of specialty training in Family Medicine. About 90% of FMRWM graduates go on to practice in Montana or other rural and underserved communities.
What does this mean for my care?
Many resident doctors provide high quality, patient-centered care at PHC. Patients who see a resident for their care may have a slightly longer appointment. Residents consult about each patient’s care with a senior physician in our clinic. This means patients receive the benefit of multiple doctors working together to develop a treatment plan that works best for each patient’s unique health needs. Patients who receive care from residents are also supporting PHC and FMRWM’s work to increase access to high-quality primary medical care across western Montana an in rural communities.
